How Proof works
For hiring managers who are — rightly — skeptical of anything claiming to be cheat-proof. Here is exactly what we do, what we catch, and what we don't.
The problem is real, and it's growing
AI can pass most take-home tests and scripted screens. If your process can't tell assisted answers from earned ones, roughly half of your engineering pipeline is a coin flip.
What the interview does
- Adaptive follow-ups that probe depth. Every answer generates a follow-up aimed at the weakest part of it. Memorized or pasted answers collapse under two or three "why" questions; real experience doesn't.
- A practical coding exercise. A short, role-relevant exercise scored on approach and correctness — not a LeetCode puzzle.
- Camera presence. With the candidate's knowledge, we take periodic snapshots during the interview as evidence a person was present throughout.
- Input tracking. We record paste events (and their size), tab switches, and window blur while questions are open — the classic signatures of getting answers from somewhere else.
What we detect — and what we honestly don't
- AI-assistance signals — pasted answers, answer patterns inconsistent with the candidate’s live reasoning
- Paste events and paste size during answers and the coding exercise
- Tab switches and window blur while a question is open
- Camera presence — periodic snapshots confirming a person is at the keyboard for the duration
- Depth of understanding — adaptive follow-ups that collapse when knowledge is memorized rather than earned
- Biometric identity verification. We do not match faces against ID documents or claim to prove who someone legally is.
- Guaranteed cheat detection. A determined fraudster with a clean setup can evade any signal. We reduce risk; we don’t eliminate it.
- A hiring decision. The report is decision support with evidence — your team makes the call.
If a vendor tells you they catch everything, they're selling you confidence, not evidence. We show you the signals and let you weigh them.
What's in the report
A note on candidate privacy
Camera frames are stored only as interview evidence. They are visible to the hiring company that created the verification — and no one else. They never appear on public or shared report pages, are never used for anything beyond the report, and candidates see a clear camera notice before the interview starts.
